Yet, we eventually learn they have feet of clay.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Feet of clay means a failure or weakness.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We have faults. Our heroes have faults. No matter how hard we try to be perfect, everyone falls short of perfection.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>This idiom originated in the Bible.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Daniel 2 tells the story of King Nebuchadnezzar and a dream he could not understand. God revealed the dream and its meaning to Daniel, one of the king\u2019s captives. In the dream, a statue had:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>A head of gold<\/li>\n<li>A body of silver, bronze, and iron<\/li>\n<li>Feet of iron and clay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A large rock hit the feet, and the statue crumbled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Daniel told the king his dream meant the Babylonian kingdom would fall. However, God\u2019s kingdom would last forever.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Because we have feet of clay, we find hope only in our Creator.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If we rely on ourselves, we <a href=\"https:\/\/dianaderringer.com\/fall-flat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fall flat<\/a>. However, God\u2019s strength and guidance enable us to <a href=\"https:\/\/dianaderringer.com\/stand-firm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stand firm<\/a>.
