Where Bees Are, There Is Honey
My dad loved taking care of bee hives. A cousin continues Dad’s tradition. He knows that where bees are, there is honey.
Where bees are, there is honey has a clear literal meaning.
Honeybees produce honey.
We sometimes hear a less grammatically correct version of this expression: Where there’s bees, there’s honey.
Bees work hard, and their hard work pays off.
In addition to providing a natural sweetener, they pollinate plants.
- Flowers
- Vegetables
- Fruits
Without bees, we suffer.
Where bees are, there is honey also applies to people.
Where we find people busy as a bee, we find results.
Success and better pay usually follow hard work. Hard work also makes our world a better place.
Bees teach us to work together.
Large numbers in bee swarms make their efforts faster and more effective. Likewise for people, many hands make light work.
May we learn from bees and from all God’s creation.
“The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb” (Psalm 19:9-10 NIV).

Great post, Diana! And thanks for the reminder that God’s word is sweeter than honey! Blessings to you.
Thank you so much, Kim. Writing this post brought back memories of lessons from my dad about honey and honeybees plus his greater lessons from the sweetness of God’s word.
Our son is a beekeeper, too. He has learned so many interesting things, but God’s Word teaches us even more.
Tracy, we had two hives until Tim became allergic to bee stings. However, we continue to learn from all God teaches through bees and from the Bible.
Such a great analogy here, Diana. Yes, when we work hard and work together, we can accomplish so much more in a shorter amount of time. May we take that lesson with us as we move forward. Blessings!
Thank you, Martha. I pray we always learn our lessons well in whatever way God teaches them. Have a wonderful day!
This reminds me, someone said; “A christian without a church is much like a bee without a hive.”
That’s a great comparison, Beckham! Thank you. Blessings.
“Busy as a bee.” I’ve been accused of being too busy numerous times. Sometimes, I agree with the observation. When I’m too busy to have quality time with family or make reasonable progress on my “to do” list, I guess that’s too busy. But like the honeybee, I feel my work is useful, and contributes to the “hive” (family, church, community). It’s all about balance. I enjoyed your message.
“It’s all about balance.” Great point, Katherine! Thank you. I also love your “hive” comment.
